An old strong-willed woman's many foster children gather at her deathbed, and give each other comfort by recalling stories about her lifelong scrap with the local parish priest. But this vengeful old man is determined to get the last laugh by refusing to say a funeral Mass for Lizzy. All appears lost until the dead woman's body suddenly vanishes, throwing everyone on Secord Street into a tizzy, including the priest.
